Tivy Side Show 2009

We went to Tivy Side Agricultural Show today. But unfortunately no photographs as I forgot the camera.
Harry was showing Min again today, but was in a big class and didn't come home with any Rosettes.
I took Warrior in the Stallion Class and he got a second. He was then awarded a S.P.S.B.S Rosette for the Best Miniature.
So all in all a good day.
I'm really mad at myself because when we came home, I rang my friend with the results and we were talking about Cardigan Show. I've just double checked and I've realised I forgot to send my entries in and the entries have now closed. Oh well there's always next year.

The Reality Of The Horse..

The Reality Of The Horse

The Beauty of the horse, the softness of the hair, the fragrance of the beast, it speaks to me.
The kindness of the being, the thunder of the hoof, the rhythm of the gait, all speaks to me.
The gentleness of the touch, the freshness of the breath, the kindness of the eye, it speaks to me.
The strength of his life, the taste of his speed, the trail that we take, and the life that he gives, they speak to me, and my heart.
And the heart soars.

Our Stud..

After speaking to Sandra Seward, who is the Secretary of The South & West Wales Shetland Pony Group, and my telephone call to Jane who runs the website. Our Stud Hericus has now been added to the Studs on the web site.
The site is really informative and if you click on the Stud button, it takes you over to a map of Wales, with Yellow dots on. If you hoover over the dots, it brings up the name of the Stud and then if you click on it, it takes you to our web site, which then has a link to this blog.
This picture was taken of Warrior at the Lampeter Show last year, when he won 1st Place, we'd just come out of the ring and my friend Karen was giving him a congratulate scratch on the nose.

Warrior...

Its been beautiful here today. Took some pictures of the "Boys", filling their faces in the bottom field. Can't believe how quickly their winter coats are coming. They also look extremely fat. Warrior is beginning to resemble a Teddy Bear!..

Show Tomorrow...

Was supposed to be taking Warrior, to a show tomorrow. It is The South & South West Wales group, which I am a member of. But its like the Artic here, freezing cold and windy. So there was no way, I was going to bath my boy today, don't want him catching a cold. So instead we are going to watch. My friend Karen has entered but looks like her Lorry is off the road again. Told her we are going and if she wants we will pick her, Lisa, and the pony up and take them to the show. Just waiting for her to ring and let me know what she wants to do. Already hitched the trailer up to the Jeep...

Llandeilo Show Cancelled....

Had a phone call this morning from the organiser of the the Llandeilo Show, saying that they've had to cancel the show for this year. Apparently, with all the rain we've been having over the last few days, the field now resembles a bog. The Show was being held this Saturday and I'd entered Warrior, in three classes, Shetlands, Coloured & Spotted & The Mountain & Moorland. Such a shame that it's been cancelled, really feel for them, can you imagine all the organisation to run a show and then to have to cancel, right at the last minute.
These pictures were taken at Nevern Show, while Mick's Parents were staying with us. Big Mick was holding Warrior for me, while I was changing the number on my Waistcoat.

Lampeter Show

Went to Lampeter yesterday, took Min & Warrior. Meet our friends Karen & Lisa there. Lisa was showing her Section A, and had already won the young handler. Well done Lisa. Lisa asked if she could show one of mine, so I let her show Min. Now Lisa has been showing Ponies since she was knee high to a Grass Hopper, but we knew the Judge wouldn't place her as he knows Lisa. (Bless her heart she's only 14). But really wanted to see, what would happen. So off Lisa went in her splendid WELSH tartan, she didn't put a foot out of place and Min was her usual laid back self and he put her down the line. We watched the Judge from outside the ring and he pulled everyone out, had a good look at every one's pony, did the walk up trot back, then lined them up and walked up the back of the line, but didn't even bother to look at Min or Lisa. Needless to say I thought it was very bad manners. Poor Lisa was most upset, when she come out of the ring and said to me, if you'd shown her you'd have been placed. Told her I wasn't bothered at all. I just wanted to see Min move. After all she's already won 1st place and Reserve Champion.
I then went in the Ring with Warrior, thinking there is no way I'm going to be placed. So you can imagine my complete surprise when Warrior Won the class... If you look at the picture of Warrior on his own, it really looks like he's smiling....

Nevern Agricultural Show

Went to Nevern Show yesterday, and the rain held off while we did our classes.
Warrior was entered in the Shetland Pony Class for 2 or 3 year old, Gelding Filly or Colt. He was placed 2ND in that class. No Miniature classes in the Shetlands.
We then went into the Miniature Horses & Pony class, where he was also placed 2ND. Bless him he did really well...
Today, I've given Min a bath as I'm taking her and Warrior to Lampeter Show tomorrow. Never been to Lampeter before, but apparently its a very large show.. Just finished bathing Min and got her rugged up and the heavens opened again. Just hoping that the rain holds off tomorrow...

Fishguard Show

Was up with the lark this morning, to get ready for Fishguard Show.
Warrior was entered in the Shetland Class for 2 & 3 Year old. No Miniature Classes today. He got Third Place. The Judge measured Warrior up against his leg and said he's very small isn't he. I wasn't sure if it was a compliment or not.
Well done Warrior you behaved so well today, even with the wind blowing in your face.
Two more shows next week, Nevern & Lampeter.

Tivy-Side Agricultural Show..

Yesterday we went to our local show at Tivy-Side. Took Warrior & Min. No Miniature classes just Shetlands. I'd entered Min in the Best Barren Mare or Gelding, 4 years and over. She got 2ND place. Warrior was entered in Best 2 or 3 year old Colt, Filly or Gelding, he also got 2ND place. We then went into the Championships. Harry had to come in the ring with me as I couldn't manage the 2 ponies on my own. Warrior won the Perpetual Challenge Cup for the Best Coloured Shetland. Why to go Warrior.. So came home with three rosettes and a cup. Harry has now decided that he wants to show the ponies. Looks like I'm going to have to get him properly rigged out for next year.
Well done Min & Warrior you did me proud...

Vale Of Clettwr Horse Show

Went off to the show today with Warrior. Bless him he doesn't like going in the trailer.
Just before we went in the ring at 11.30am the heavens opened and needless to say me and Warrior got a good soaking. I could feel the water trickling down my back. The rain then stopped, while we were in the ring. Warrior got 1st in the Yearling, Two or Three year old class. We then went into the Championships, but wasn't placed. Considering there were no miniature classes and he was up against Standard Shetlands, he did amazingly well. Well done Warrior, I'm so proud of you.

Pampered Ponies

I've spent a good part of the day, giving Warrior & Min bathes. We are supposed to be going to a local show tomorrow and then another big show on Sunday. Although that really depends on the weather. The trouble if it rains, the fields get soaked and the trailer and Jeep sink in the mud. At Tivy Side last year they had to pull the lorries in and out.
Started with Warrior, who was a bit unsure at first about all the bubbles, but soon got used to it. He's never had a bath before, you ought to have seen the dirt that came out of his coat. He especially liked being rubbed down with a big soft fluffy tail. Then got Min out of the field and gave her a good scrub, she's used to being bathed so doesn't bat an eyelid. Their both rugged up, in the stables now drying out. Needless to say I was soaked through by the time I'd finished. Looks like I finished just in time cause its started raining.

Warrior..

Been putting the bit in Warriors mouth, so that he gets used to it for when we go showing. He is such a lovely little gentleman, stands still while you slip his bridle on and doesn't show off at all. He's a bit weary of our sit on mower, he's fine when its moving takes no notice at all, but doesn't like walking passed it in the yard. So I've been walking him passed on his bridle or head collar.
Warrior is the full brother to our filly foal Aphrodite. They share the same lovely temperament. Don't you just love his handsome little face, I can't resist giving him a kiss on the nose at every opportunity.
I've been writing up the adverts to sell the foals. Apollo is definitely staying, that boy is something else and I want to run him on, think he will make a fantastic show pony and hopefully a potential Stallion later on. Still debating about Aphrodite, she is so tiny and has really stolen my heart. If I do sell her I only want her to go to a really special home. Also been debating about Neo and Yum Yum. As you know Neo passed his Stallion Assessment and is now fully licensed, but I am hoping to bred coloured ponies and he is black. But then Neo & Magic where the first two ponies that I got. Trouble with me I love them all and its taking me ages to make up my mind what to do.
