Been putting the bit in Warriors mouth, so that he gets used to it for when we go showing. He is such a lovely little gentleman, stands still while you slip his bridle on and doesn't show off at all. He's a bit weary of our sit on mower, he's fine when its moving takes no notice at all, but doesn't like walking passed it in the yard. So I've been walking him passed on his bridle or head collar. Warrior is the full brother to our filly foal Aphrodite. They share the same lovely temperament. Don't you just love his handsome little face, I can't resist giving him a kiss on the nose at every opportunity. I've been writing up the adverts to sell the foals. Apollo is definitely staying, that boy is something else and I want to run him on, think he will make a fantastic show pony and hopefully a potential Stallion later on. Still debating about Aphrodite, she is so tiny and has really stolen my heart. If I do sell her I only want her to go to a really special home. Also been debating about Neo and Yum Yum. As you know Neo passed his Stallion Assessment and is now fully licensed, but I am hoping to bred coloured ponies and he is black. But then Neo & Magic where the first two ponies that I got. Trouble with me I love them all and its taking me ages to make up my mind what to do.
Took these pictures of the dreaded Ragwort this evening, for those of you who have no idea what it looks like. I found this clump in the garden. If you see it growing in your gardens or fields pull it out and dispose of it in your household waste or burn it. Don't put it in your compost bin. It is poisonous to live stock and can kill your horse or pony if they eat it. For full details see the Defra website
Went to a local show today, in aid of the Mostonbrook Sanctury Equine Home Of Rest. Took Meechlands Minuet, got her out of the field yesterday and gave her a really good scrub, she came up a dream. Left home at 8am this morning. There were 7 classes for the Shetlands we were in class 7 Best Miniature. Gained 1st place, stayed in the ring for the Championship and Min got Reserve Champion up against some big blacks. She was a perfect little lady, so different to handle then a Stallion. After the Shetlands we went in the Coloured, Spotted and Palomino Class. Bless her heart she was surrounded by big coloured Horses, and she never batted an eyelid, we got 4th Place in that class. All in all not a bad day out. Well done Min, you was a perfect little lady today.
It is with great sadness that I write this post. My beautiful boy Birchwood Cravat died last night in the field with his girls. I am totally devastated, it was such a shock. He was running around at 9pm and at 9.45pm he was lying in the field, to start with we thought he was asleep, but as we walked closer realised something was wrong. Only to find that he had already passed away. We moved the girls out into another paddock, but had difficulty with Katie has she didn't want to leave him and was licking his face. It broke my heart, whoever said animals have no feelings are so wrong. Run free Over Rainbow Bridge my beautiful little man..
Just this side of Heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to rainbow bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends, so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals that had been ill and old are restored to health and vigour, those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing, they miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes intent, his eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face, your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone but never absent from your heart.
